If you landed on Siem Reap, you must go to Angkor Wat.
We travelled from Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam to Siem Reap in Cambodia by bus. It was a long trip with a few combinations, but totally worth it because we planned to spend just two days in Cambodia. Best option to save time and money (no hostel).
If you wanna go to Siem Reap and Cambodia, the recommendation that you will always heard about Angkor Wat Temple is that the best time to be there is at sunrise (around 5:30 am).
Angkor Wat is a Buddhist Temple and the largest religious monument in the world on a site measuring 162.6 hectares. Originally was built as an Hindu Temple in honor is Vishnu but towards the end of the 12th Century gradually transformed into Buddhism. For that reason, women needs to cover their shoulders and legs. If you are wearing a skirt or shorts, they will offer to you buy a sarong so you can cover yourself.
We made a deal with a Tuk Tuk driver who was at the same time our guide in the Temple. He explain to us some history of the sites we visited in Angkor Wat for 30 USD the whole day. That was cheap because we were 3 girls sharing the Tuk Tuk so it meant for us 10 USD each.
Tip: If you have few days like me, you can get the 1 day ticket for 37 USD, but it’s cheaper if you get tickets for more days. The options that you have are: 1 day, 3 days ($62 USD) and 7 days ($72 USD). Being totally honest, the place is huge so if you have the chance and you like Temples and Museums and you don’t need to meet a tight schedule, you will need and enjoy these 3 days tickets.
